Only Autumn Once
In the middle of May
Or on Mother's Day
She read the blog that made it all go away
All the hoping
And coping
And roping
Calfs and mountains she climbed
The trees insist on changing
And children refuse to stay small
All the rearranging
In the world won't prevent the next fall
Another woman wrote
If I only get to be Amber once
And she heard the discordant note
In her soul, Dunce
Whispered her self doubt
And she wanted to find the open range
And ride until the colors ceased to change
