On the Grass

I see the children playing in the grass near my workplace Seems that they know what to laugh about No longer do I laugh at silly things The years are starting to wear me down In the mirror I notice my age At lest I have survived to 59 The joys of life often elude me now With some help from my friends I shall get back on track I'll keep my eyes open Ready to see beauty and prepare for its entrance into my space, my life

beauty is everywhere around us hidden by life struggles ans issues. sometimes we must take a mental pict of it so when we see it no more we have that happy memory to fall back upon. ooh and there is beauty in sharing and taking time to be with family. loved the poem and thanks for the kind visit, marion.

Seeing the children enjoy playing is enjoying beauty..We are surrounded by little things that are beautiful just open your eyes..Enjoyed reading your work..Thanks for the visit to my page..My husband and I got sick back in the spring and he had a cough that was really bad but would not go to the doctor but finally gave in and went..They did a chest x-ray because they though he had pneumonia..The film showed a mass in his chest..Then he had to have a CAT Scan which showed a bulging.....

As kids, we couldn't wait to grow up, but after becoming adults we wonder where all the fun disappeared to... I hope you can find plenty to smile about, Matthew. I know we can all relate to your feelings here. A very nice write, my friend!

matt, you funny guy. I never had an Aunt Nell. Did you like how I used Nell for Death Knell? I don't even think they DO death knells any more, do they? About your poem here, I REALLY relate to it. we are BOTH this freaking age of 59. I've only got a month to go and I'll be 60. uggggg. When did you notice the aging. For me, I noticed it big time a few years ago. Maybe around age 57 I became more aware of little things. sucks!!

Hi, Haven't you hear that laughter is exercise for our inner parts, our lungs muscles, heart, etc. So humor is good for us. Joy isn't hard to find when you surround yourself with happy people and of course, children. I liked your ending as you begin to lift yourself up and reach for a more positive attitude. ~~Darlene
