Old Nightmare

Light flickers from a candle sweet scent subtle in the air Eyes swollen from a sleepless night still linger there Shadows dance on the wall from the candles flickering flame Wondering now if her life will ever be the same Thoughts impossible to gather in her foggy mind Muddled memories desperate to leave behind Forgotten images now linger in the days new light Old dreams reoccurring causing the sleepless night Will those dreams of that night forever last Why is there no freedom from memories past It seems the reality will always be there to see Will only forgiveness be what sets her free
