Oh How I Love Halloween - For Ghost Contest

I hear the doorbell ring and I rush to answer it The heavy wooden door creaks and squeaks and groans My face is a ghostly white, you can only just see my eyes and mouth The children scream loudly and drop their bags of sweets in fright Terrified they flee down the path not pausing to look back I grab their sweets and quickly slam the door I dash to the bathroom Twenty minutes is up and its time to wash off my face pack Hee hee hee it works every year 5th October 2014

Thanks Carol I don't actually like Halloween especially with the teenagers who can cause havoc but it is lovely to see the little kids dressed up:-) hugs jan xx

This poem is cute and clever Jan. I will have to give it a try. I enjoy seeing the kids in costume though and I entertain them with my little mummy who dances to Michael Jackson's thriller music while I take a photo of them to keep for my own fun. LOL

:D Do you do this too? I thought I was the only one who sent children screaming away. Don't take their candy, though. Naughty girl. Love the poem, dear. I use green face paint and theatrical makeup to grow warts and a bent nose. Visited my "grown up" sister-in-law dressed this way one year and she slammed the door and ran up the stairs screaming, "There's a monster outside!" LOL As you say, it works every time. Love, Carolyn

Excellent! Funny thing Jan I use a similar trick. I don't change anything about my appearance I just answer the door. My parents saved a fortune on costumes every year. I was so ugly when I was born the doctor slapped my Mother.

Haha,I really love this Jan.A great idea : ).I ll never knock on your door on halloween ,its a promise : ). Tnks for your 7 on my haiku.I used to receive lots of flowers on Valentines dsy in the past, but my husband doesn't believe in giving a rose as a gift, and I die to recieve chocolates and flowers. So its been quite awhile since He gave me one.A pity, cause I believe in little gestures that keep the flame going.
