Ode For the Holiday Season

Christmas and Chanukah fall on the same day this year This must be a sign of something I don't know what The years roll by like a mighty stream Dissolving everything in their path The bards of old spoke of a future we can believe in Perhaps that is on the horizon Though it doesn't seem that way at the moment Our land is in turmoil What is going to happen? All poetry is not political And you can be damn sure All politics is not poetic
