Oak Lasts Longest

A rare November day, sunny and warm with a brilliant blue sky visible thorough suddenly bare limbs. Brown leaves crunch, laying the bed for winter. Oak lasts longest. DWR November MMIX revised Augustus MMXIV

This is short but sure full of imagery for me-- I find it really wonderful how something uncommon happening in an otherwise common scenario can put things in a different perspective. We indeed should be thankful for such instances. I really enjoyed reading this, and yes, some indeed, such as the oak, do outlast others...also thank you for your inspiring comments in my Obsidian poem. I am happy you liked it!

The oak seems to also be the tree most represented in poetry. Good reason for that!!! I hope our poetry lasts as long as that magnificent tree.

I never knew that but it is interesting that oak is the tree most presented in poetry. I was thinking of the leaves, which are the last to decompose in both terrestrial and aquatic systems, probably because of the tannins. For some reason two of the lines are being split, despite repeated edits. I'll give it another try tomorrow.
