O Thou Man of Foolishness

O thou man of flesh and clay, From whence cometh such confidence, With which thou to thy Lord did say "I, by myself, art my Providence?!" But to thy shame know thou this day, The foolishness of thy eloquence; For what art thou but flesh and clay Made alive by the Lord's magnificence!
