Not Ready Yet

If you think I need to be sitting On my back porch wishing on a star I’m not ready yet for that rocking chair I’ll rock to the stereo in my car I’m not ready yet for the second part Of this long and hard journey I won’t play follow the leader The leader can follow me I can’t dance to someone else’s tune They can’t dance to mine I’m not ready yet for the BINGO set And I’ll never walk the line I may be a little crazy but that’s okay I’ll greet each day with a happy smile I’m not ready yet for going home I’m going to be here for a while There’s a big bright beautiful world out there And a lot more that I want to try So I’m not ready yet for that rocking chair I’m going to keep living until I die.

Bingo and shuffleboards... both defiantly to be avoided. It's much more satisfying to lead rather than to follow. BRAVO my friend! Best wishes, Keith

A profound poem, Vince. Superb and commendable determination. Some people "die many times before their death". A verse of the great poet Iqbal when translated reads thus: Why did You cast me out of the Paradise gate? I have to finish undone jobs in the world, You wait. Thanks for your beautiful comments on my poem The Faithful. I like the message on your bumper sticker. -Mohammad

Ok. I hear ya Vince, but if truth be told, I would love to sit on a rocking chair in a house with a porch, maybe sippin on a glass of wine, enjoying mother nature, contemplating life. As far as bingo goes, I'll pass too. Either way, we can all tell there is no way of stopping you! Go get em! Love, Shar

Same goes for me!! Not ready to sit and vegg ....still things to do, still plenty of things I want to try! Don't think I'll ever be old in my head! I was outside playing basketball with my 7 year old grandson this past weekend, and actually didn't fall over dead!! (He thinks I'm a pretty cool Grandma!...and I'm sure trying! Great poem, Vince! ~ Live a long, and active life ahead! Can tell from your writing, that you are young at heart !! That counts for a lot! :) Carrie

Beautiful write Vince. Depicts a life that is still full of vigor. The poem captured that so excellently. The liveliness of the voice in the poem can be felt as I read. Great stuff.
