No Picture
No Picture
I am not taking your picture.
You think my camera
is pointed at you,
it appears as though my
finger may trigger the shutter
at any second.
I am not taking your picture.
I want your candid shot.
I want you posed, playful or annoyed,
ready and unprepared, over and over.
In color and black and white
blurry and in focus.
I am not taking your picture.
My lens is wide and long,
my mind’s eye quick with recollection
mental film imperfect.
But you, my love, fill every frame
perfectly,
with or without an exposure.
I am not taking your picture.
