No More Seen

Eyes have closed The yard is empty now except for a few memories lying captured in the grass like flies in a spider's web You'll never forget the lazy summer days of the bright colors of an autumn evenings spent here amidst the grass and the fallen leaves Silence and a thousand tears cannot assuage the pain Sweet companionship gone now Conversations and unanswered questions gone into "the animal soup of time" They've cut down the old cherry tree and my heart died with it

Nice, Matthew enjoyed the silent treatment of your memories. Sad and deep ones. It seem as if they have aged with a sad grace that hurts the memory of losing something so precious. A wonderful poem,..p.d.

The "animal soup of time" holds many precious memories, doesn't it? You describe the loss so eloquently within the vision of the old backyard, Matthew. I think my heart may be buried beneat that cherry tree's stump, too. Can really relate to this one. I drove 550 miles on my way from FL to NJ today and am in NC for the night. Very tired, but I saw your comment and wanted to assure you that my physical health has improved. More when I get to NJ -- Love, Carolyn

oh, what a poignant write, Matthew. Very nicely done. Hmmm, I did NOT have football in my mind when I wrote my fall haiku, but I take it you are a big football fan since you associate it with fall!! Check out my football limerick. haha. Luv, Andrea
