Night Sounds

In the dark silence of the velvet night I hear him sing He stands on the back hills Where his sharp barks cut Across the ridges in the moonlight Come my brothers and sisters Come The hunt, the kill is done Join me at this bloody ground I hear their excited song as They gather round and join in Their sharp yips I hear them sing I hear them declare Him their king

Kept seeing images of a wolf calling out to his pack in this image-filled poem, Linda. You take the reader back to memories of the old West and recreate a scene many of us have imagined. Very nicely done, Linda, and thanks for your comments. Have a wonderful holiday season! Love, Carolyn
