Deep through the night The embers burn Entwined bodies turn On a bed of thorns and roses. ----------------------------------------- This was my first poem on Soup. Congratulation on your #rd place award, Paul... nice start my friend. Write On! Bill p.s. Thought I'd come back to your first posting like I generally do when I find a poet I really like. Well worth the scroll back. :-)

That was so nice of you to look up one of my 'oldies', Bill. Time goes by so quickly, and even our styles of writing tend to change and adapt to the passing of years. Have a nice day, my friend. // paul

Of course I had to stop to read your first poem on the Soup. Honestly, at first read I misread the word "through" (maybe because its 3:04 am) Phew. Wipes brow. Its a beautiful write, Paul and I'm so impressed with your talents that I want to learn from you. Looking forward to many years here on Soup.

Ah, pain and passion... I so admire what I've read so far from you that I had to come see your first poem on PS. This is an enthralling write Paul with sizzling textured imagery, tactile, visual and emotional.. Captivating, enticing and brilliant in it's short form... which I love! The most fantastic four lines I've read in a long time. So happy you jumped in feet first with your awesome first write! A worthy winner too I see, Congratulations!! Warmest wishes..

A beautiful beginning, Paul. A minimalist approach yield big results often in poetry, I've come to find out in this eclectic poetry community. Good job on this poem. Much love and more love to you and yours.

Thank you for another interesting visit, Freddie. You might have noticed by now that I often tend to write briefly...I'm not into long poems, though I would willingly read one as long as it captures my interest. Best regards // paul

Hey! We bought the same bed! No beauty rest! Maybe a Serta for support? Ha! I had to run and see your first one! Love how you make those words glissade! NICE

Glissade...to glide, what we want the words to do: to dance, waltz, move, move us, to tell us the story. Hmmm!

Hi Edlynn! We should have tried out that bed before we bought it! Ok...I'll be honest...I googled 'Serta' for I did not really know what it was, though I could guess:) I'm sure that it would be a pleasure to use such a mattress! Love the word 'glissade'...but of course, you're a ballerina! ~ Regards // paul

boy this one sure hits home. As from the outside things can seem so perfect, but on a closer look there are thorns within the beauty.

Dear Paul, Some may say short and sweet is the easy way out, but in this case I find it's not love this piece of yours it says it all with love and luster, love the last line so much the texturing is amazing, who cares about it's length when it is said with perfection such as this, cheri

Your comments are like sweet caresses, Cherl! I love the way you read into my poems. I must admit that I like writing short poems...I find them challenging because what I would have written in length I have to compress in so little. // You write average length poems which are so compelling that I would not mind if they were much longer. / Have a lovely week. // paul
