New Reflections On the Urban Scene

Light from untold apartments attracts my interest I wonder how lives are being played out in them Wonder whether they are deliriously happy or in a melancholic frame of mind Nightfall in the metropolis Cars rush by on the avenue Sitting here alone in my place as a crescent moon hangs overhead A little tea then sleep Shall I dream of the asphalt homeland tonight - or will my ship lead me elsewhere? For now I contemplate the urban scene So many millions of fellow urbanites are becoming tired as I tire I can see the river from my place Lights from the bridge hang like jewels One can meditate on the urban scene Take joy from the fact that plenty of others are contemplating it with me Peace to the metropolis and all its inhabitants!

I wrote a poem once about not being able to understand or survive in cities, but your words make it seem possible, almost beckoning.

The scenery within this write took this reader back to a city that I knew as a child. The urban lights, fellow urbanites and strolls by the river banks or the boating events during the summer, the bridge lights hanging like jewels... An awesome read my friend. Thank you Matthew for sharing and for your lovely comments on "Petals From Above" God's Love and Many Blessings, Always, Adell

I'm glad you can find some time to relax, away from the rush of the city. Your wonderful descriptions really take the reader there. A lovely write, Matthew!

I never liked urban scenes, but your poem gave me a great experience, within it.
