New Madrid

The Earth opens up, Like a giant fissure Cracking from its focus point, And splitting my life in two From Faults too deep, Too dark underneath The Quake inside my Love for you While solid structures crumble, Buried in dust and rubble- Oh, whatever shall I do? *This piece is a departure from my normal style, and is more or less experimental. "Free-verse" is definitely NOT my forte, and there are some elements of it thrown in (I suppose lol).

The most interesting one so far, and not without rhyme, rhyme can be and often is used for emphasis in free verse & a lovely visual metaphor. Light & Love

JTAP ... I have enjoyed every post of yours I have read so far. Your talent is yours to use as you wish and to let others define as they will. I know of no limits imposed by PSoup as to the number you may post. I have hundreds posted and others even thousands. Just know that I respect the creativity in your work and I don't keep a form rule book at my side when reading poetry.... Just know I appreciate quality writing..... Love ya dearly..... Jake

My feelings are sincerely reciprocated, John; every piece of yours I have read has been a joy to read. Thanks for the info; I thought I had read that there was a limit, but I may have imagined that since every site I've ever joined has been so strict and despotic lol. I'm elated to have met you and so many other wonderfully talented, creative and supportive people.

This is a brilliant free verse and looks like it might be your new forte. I love this poem with brilliant metaphor... :)

I just totally blushed. I can't thank you enough. I am happy to have met yet another kind and encouraging poet. I have written very few "free-verse", but you have given me the courage to make a foray into this virtually uncharted poetic frontier (for me). I may post a few more in the future. Thanks again, Karen! :)
