New Eyes
Sunrise begins. Sifting through the tall grasses, warming the earth all around and chasing off the delicate tendrils of midnights mist. Tucked away in their warm beds, small children and babes sleep blissfully, unaware of the rising sun and the waking world around them.
The sun spills over the horizon, exposing shadows and fighting the chill in the air. Ladybugs and dragonflies emerge from the leaves, drinking the morning dew and gracing the skies with their beauty. The little ones eyes start to flutter, slowly joining the real world; leaving a hazy dreamland behind.
The sun climbs above the trees, bringing forth energy; causing their saucer-like eyes to blink sleepily. Little stocking covered feet hit the floor, padding to the window pane, and small, soft hands press against the glass. The world takes a breath and begins another day.
