Never Say Goodbye
My life slipped away today
in that brief pained moment
expected yet so unprepared
for the loneliness to follow.
You had turned your head
to hide your tears at this reality
but nothing
and no one ever holds it back.
We had said our goodbyes
remembering all our ties
and all that remains
in that last kiss goodbye.
With my eyes closed,
going to that final sleep
my heart is still held here
with all my promises to keep.
