My Time

I've never wanted power, prestige or wealth, I've only ever wanted just to be myself. I've never envied anyone for the things they had, I've only ever tried to help, and never wished them bad. Now I ask these questions, as my life is nearly done. How come in all the battles I fought, I never ever won? I've always gone the extra mile for folk I've met and yet, When ever I have needed help, it was impossible to get. I've seen many folk around me, they stumble, and nearly fall, I was ever there to catch them, I'd heard their plaintiff call. Lord, will it be my time, when all my prayers are said and done? Or will all my tomorrows be like the days that have just gone? © Dave Timperley February 2015
