My Precious Girl

I listen to the sound of flutes and the soft rain.
Embracing the new day and what I may gain.

I move to the room where my precious girl sleeps.
She is calm like a leaf drifting on a pond, as she lies next to me.

She moves to lay her head on my chest as I hold back the tears.
I slide her hair picturing what she will grow to be in the coming years.

I shift to carry her into my arms for the day of school must begin.
I whisper it's time to wake baby, she opens her lovely eyes with a grin.

At that moment the world stands still as I feel a tear of charm.
For I know why I am here as I gaze at the beauty in my arms.

I put on her favorite show as we play and dance.
My mind is alert with creativity, so thankful I have been given this chance.

The beauty from God is all around us in what we see and breathe.
Yet the gift of a beautiful child raises above all and takes the lead.

Oh, its so lovely! I have two beautiful daughters, too. 2 and 3 years old, the lights of my life! I can relate to the special love for a child you expressed so well here.
