My Indulgent Vacation
A paling sun descends in late day; with a wink,
it signals the moon to rise. In only a blink
of my rested eyes, newly tanned limbs cool in the sand,
and the foamy tide sprinkles my lips with a salty drink.
New memories cover me like a soft terry-cloth robe
as I lazily lie alone on an exotic beach across the globe.
Distant, green-peaked mountains seem to climb to heavenly heights
where a gracious sky falls tranquil to the ocean’s gold-flaked lobe.
I selfishly indulge in this dream vacation all alone
without a speck of guilt or any thought of remorse shown.
Silky sand and bluest skies stretch out until the stars sink low
to meet upon secluded beach and crown me from fair summer's throne.
