My Happy Pretend
Let me pretend my way,
to a happy beginning.
Where the fabric of life,
was thick and not thinning.
A time and a place,
with a loving warm feeling.
A super fantastic life,
that was perfectly appealing.
Where my days were exquisite,
like lines to a "Hallmark" poem.
Everything so perfect,
our house was a home.
Time to be a gleeful child,
daddy left me alone.
My sins weren't so many,
I didn't need to atone.
Days warm and special,
from the very start.
A beautiful life,
imitation of art.
We each were so loving,
that was the best part.
Days filled with happy,
never a broken heart.
Pretending doesn't work,
so I'll just try and be.
Look past my own surfaces
and then I might see.
Beginnings aren't endings,
my God has blessed me.
Forgiven and forgiving,
from the past I'm set free!
