My Girl
MY GIRL
Entry number one
The beginning of the end
Now we will find out
If the son can mend
I must let nothing stop me
I must not fall off the course
I must me my insecurities
With the necessary force
And if I do, and see it through
Would that mean anything to you?
Would you call yourself my girl?
And look at me with loving eyes
Would you live, and love, and learn, and grow
To understand a father’s cries?
You could travel down a path of sorrow
The cost is life with your soul to spend
But I’ve lost so much walking down that road
So it’s not something I would recommend
So in these months before your birth
I’ve got so many things to do
Work to give myself some worth
And make a better life for you
