My Fondest Memory
To recall being in a sailboat
drifting so peacefully
across the sea,
the heart calming, moving
under the wave of swells.
What a serenade it brings
reminding me of my first whale song
and notes from dolphins,
wondering if mermaids
have a voice I can tell
when they rise from the depths,
greeting ships on full moon nights.
Upon the sand
all ocean’s orchestra plays,
this my fond memory as a young girl
on an islet's stage echoing within me
through a reverie shaped as a shell.
