My Brother Passed By
Listen to poem:
When time has run its course and your heart has beat its last,
You will depart this mortal life with no power over those whose loved ones hearts you break.
If you could stay, the sun would shine at midnight, but you have left forever and a day.
Gone, but whose remembrance will be seared onto our souls eternally?
your children and their children weep.
Yet you cannot stop the tears. Only the memory of days gone by may one day help.
Why does life's so short span take your loved ones' lives away?
What purpose does an aching heart achieve but sorrow?
Friends and family gather to say goodbyes , but your spirit had passed them by.
Life, they say, will carry on, yet my heart may not be able.
My whole being will miss your kindness, your smile, and your words of sound advice
What purpose a heart so easily broken by emotions running rife.
Is it all part of the game of life or some cruel trick played on us mere mortals (in our) lives.
