Music of Childhood

The smell of white flowers
on the magnolia tree
the sign of a raptor in flight
now a memory of growing up artfully.

Sculpting the mud musical with
leaves and rocks. Playing a child's
tricks while acting more honest as
a body of history repeating drops
like a rock.

The taste of a penny and the
fright of shadows moving
on the wall. Time passes slowly
until the carving of limbs like
bowed string is finally sounded.
