Moonlight
Fading moonlight,
Sad and soft,
Your bright cascades
Will soon dry up
The sleeping earth
Clothed in your rays
Will never wake
To see your face;
Though you may try
To warm the cold,
Your gentle beams
Will die untold,
Your silken streams
Poured from above
Won’t fill the dreams
Of those you love;
Beneath the clouds,
All sleeping souls
Will never know
Your silent glow,
For night will pass
Into the dawn,
And all your light
Will then be gone.
