Missing You
You promised
you'd never break my heart
never make me cry
rather die than live without me.
You broke that promise
broke my heart, made me cry
you have gone and left me
rather, I'm the one without you.
Early mornings I sit on the deck
coffee and your favorite biscuits
my company and memories
hover on the border of pain.
Thin fog floats lazily over the marina
faint mist is a curtain
peeling back a palest shade of blue
translucent as my sense of unhappiness
that's taking a long time dying.
Before remembrance vanishes
I savor this luxury
of missing you.
