Millions of Miles Away

the routine of every-days' business
the phone keeps on ringing
breaking news keeps on breaking
the shopping list grows
lots of not yet answered mail in a hose
schedules and appointments to keep
despite the nights I could not sleep
and a huge whole filed with emptiness

the routine of every-days' business
I picked up the phone
because I felt so alone
I dialed the number on autopilot
but on the other side it remained quiet
I am facing the reality of the loss
a tough message that I would not get across
now I balance lonely on the border of an isthmus

the routine of every days'business
passers-by on the pavements take no notice
the highway even a more anonymous edifice
sometimes even my feet hardly touch the ground
I am suffering of a deafened ear for any sound
tapping a photo becomes a fore-time
with my hands touching and my eyes wide open an almost re-sublime
my new routine of every days' business

Life seems to be so fast that we do not know how to slow it down; we still want a life that is free from worry, but the routine stress and losses of life are blocking for having a happy life, we all need someone or we could hardly bear the pain. Thanks Ellie. (^_^) Noel.

A touching write I heard you, the repetition worked well in strengthening the distance and loss. Light & Love

What a struggle. What an emotional vibe. This was deep. May new mornings make it right.

I always take poems w/a grain of salt. Your extended version is very good and all. Though, the original one stood just as strong on its own.

Dear Ellie, this must be the one you referred to in your soupmail. It is a truly moving poem. the title is so creative and really captures the essence of what you are saying. Boy, you and I are just really putting up some sad poems lately! We must be on the same wavelength. luv, Andrea
