Memories On Branches
Awakened by a budding desire
Trees burst forth in bloom
As their colors set the landscape afire
which attracts the insects that groom
the blossoms, as they exude a sweet perfume
Butterflies frolic amidst the branches
Seeking shade in the heat of the day
As our feathered friends give us songs that enhance
With melodies coming from blue jays
While a woodpecker hammers out a tune his way
A hummingbird hovers to a flower's sway
A flourish of leaves, gold and red, are now seen
Which disguise a lugubrious fall
As squirrels gather food in between
the shadows of its implicit pall
Though its vibrant colors do enthrall
Snowflakes and ice crystals soon descend
Clothing the trees in a coat of white,
Later icicles will extend
From the limbs, as a snowy owl in flight
Moves silently through the frigid night
