Memories - My Simple Wishes
I wish I didn’t lie awake at night
waiting for the key to turn in
the door announcing your return,
I wish I didn't imagine
myself hearing your
footsteps down the hall,
I wish I didn't long
to hear your voice,
every time the phone rings
hoping it was you on the other side,
I wish I didn't miss
you sitting next
to me on the train
on our way to work,
I wish we could have our stolen
moments back, when we
sneaked away from work
just to have lunch together,
I wish you did not insist
on driving your car to work that day...
Maybe you would still be here with me,
Maybe we would still be making memories…
