March
With its lingering mixture of snow and sleet
And soggy shoes under feet
With cold winds that seem to blow forever
Its slow decline from winter weather
With the hopes of the raising sun
And less days of persistent glum
Forging forward and waiting to bask
The tulips are here at last
And aspirations deepen for workable loose soil
So that fingers may rake mix and toil
The once empty park benches shall soon fill with sprit
While happily watching young child play in it
An occasionally kite shall soon take flight
With an eager child holding with all there might
All creature’s that laid low and slept
Come alive and adept
To new hopes and dreams
Laughter and sunshine and baseball teams
Golden blooms of the forsythia bush
Springtime rains give it a push
Who can forget Saint Patrick’s Day?
Are you wearing your green beret?
Music and tradition
And a jolly good way
All our new goals and ambitions
Are waiting for the right conditions
It will happen before you can say -
You will wake up and see the display
Of a happy spring bouquet
