Mediterranean island, where one finds so much to do Abundant days of sunshine and the sea is limpid blue Lavender, thyme and laurel; history spreads in rich galore The temples, feasts, devotion bring religion to the fore. Acclaimed for fruit and honey and the fish that’s brought to shore. This is a friendly nation; you’ll be welcomed by a toast To the best of health intended to last long while she’s your host. ------------------------------------------------------------- Contest: A poem you have not entered in a contest #5 Sponsor: Poet Destroyer A Placed: 6th

Thank you, Lynn. I am sure we all have a soft spot for our native lands. It would be lovely if one day you were to visit Malta; it would also be a pleasure to meet you:) Regards // paul

You're make me quite jealous. It's getting closer and closer to winter and I'm stuck in Idaho! This was a delicately put together piece of your homeland... captured all the senses.

Thank you Timothy; it is not my intention to make people jealous:) Here we get a long summer (I start swimming in May and I'm still swimming now, although soon the weather will be changing). Our coldest months are usually January and February; our houses are not well-equipped for cold weather, so I'm not too keen on those two months! // paul

Hi Debbie! Wonder if your X was Maltese! Priests and cops both are supposed to have society's well-being as one of their priorities...so he changed lanes but stayed on track!:) // paul

Thank you Dr. Upma. Malta is only small, but it has much to offer, especially history. Pity India is so far away! (my cousin spent several years working as a nun in an orphanage in India, and she has very pleasant memories of her stay there.). // paul

Congratulations, Paul, . I hope you don't mind your placement in my contest. Out of past experience, I know many don't like when I don't have a first or second placement. However, this is my judgment, and it only feels right, to place each poem, in the order I would have, as if there had been a first or second placement. Believe me, I'm not taking from you or your winning poem. Hugs, and enjoy my blog, "Conundrum" if you'd like. Have yourself a sweet day. ...always Linda

Paul, you did a wonderful job of painting a picture of Malta in just a small amount of lines. Your lines flow smoothly and your rhymes are perfect. I am so sorry it got left out of my contest. It's very good. Love, Kim

Dear Paul, I had no idea you lived in Malta. You're in good company with Charmaine living there as well. Indeed, it is a friendly nation in a world where there are so few. Perhaps I need to visit there this fall on my visit to Europe; your description sounds so lovely. Love and blessings, Carolyn

Hi Carolyn! I'm sure you would enjoy Malta; all those points mentioned in the poem are actual. // Yes, Charms is a fellow islander; we have never met, as yet, but I am sure she is a very nice person; missed her on soup of late. // Take care and god bless. // paul

Oh...I want to visit! :) Lovely, lovely write! Malta always does rather well at the Eurovision song contest, so I've been enthralled by this place for some time. I loved the entry ANGEL! :) Beautiful. Your poem simply amazing! Honestly, the words you wove together just gave us a beautiful picture of that enchanting isle!

Hi Eileen your comments are simply beautiful!! It's not easy to say much in limited lines. Yes, Malta often does well in the Eurovision song contest; here we can boast of several good singers/ writers/composers. Pls do look up on utube the songs "Only till the morning", "A new day is dawning" and "Words are not enough"; I wrote the lyrics for them. :) // paul
