Lyrics to Peter White's Life Story

Hidden in the corners of a lonely heart
where life is torn apart
and light just never seems to shine,
hiding from a truth that I don't want to know
because the truth will show
that all the faults are mine.

What am I to do now that you're gone away,
and empty yearning seems to be a waste of time.
It does no good to pine for yesterday
when it's more like a lovely dream,
a dream I should never start.

So I'll walk the beach here where we used to play,
perhaps they'll come a day,
a day when I will find
another lonely heart that's filled with memories,
memories of how it used to be
and a wish we would never part.

gosh, Craig. Your ideas are so different from mine when I heard this song. I am still working on mine. Wasn't this your contest?? If it is, I wanted to ask you if we had to use every note from the song but if I go by your example here, it looks like I am ok to stop after halfway through the song's melody. Gosh, maybe I got that all wrong and it was not your contest after all. For some reason I am thinking it's yours! Anyway, back to this poem: It's Gorgeously poignant!!

Andrea, yes it is my contest and absolutely just write for the primary melody. Few lyrics are ever written to each note anyway and are usually repeated. What haunts in a song much like a well written poem is what we remember and, as you know, long and complicated is difficult to remember.

Wow Craig, there is real honest sorrow, and hope is this tender poem. Yeah, Truth can be a difficult friend. J.A.B.
