Lower Case

i love to write in lower case but if you ask me why, the reason i would give you is it comes down to the “i.” my first initial, written small, is capped off with a dot. the way it hovers makes me smile – i like it quite a lot. most people stick with capitals; from grammar rules, no slummings - except for those outside the norm, like poet e.e. cummings. i’ve always loved his chutzpah for it took a lot of nerve to get his poems, unique and cool, the notice they deserve. with email now, the rules are bent so when i correspond, i always type in lower case with fonts of which i’m fond. yet many times i will concede and give in to convention. i’d hate to be perceived as one just dripping with pretension. but really, who i am’s ilene, expressed in lower case. that dotted “i” identifies as clearly as my face.

Hi Ilene - as a lover of lower case, this poem is "write" up my alley. It's so hard to stop my third grade teacher, Sr. Angela's voice over my shoulder from pointing her ruler at me. thanks for the lowering the "i' a little. love, Kathy

Humility's a good thing. Martha Stewart surely knows. It's when we think we're above the law the truth begins to show. I used to write without concern if I was ever shifting. But then my consience did take hold and I felt like I was drifting. Nice poem ilene, I'm glad i was a spark. It certainly answered my question plus.

cute poem - great flow and entertaining too! I hate writing in CAPITAL letters, which I have to do at work sometimes. All caps is just so ugly - i like ilene with an "i" :) p.s. I used to go by Susie and thought it looked too happy - what is wrong with a 2nd grader who hates the way her name smiles? lol. you brought back some memories... :)
