Love Is Light

I was once like you young full of loving and longing thinking love was this magical entity that could be captured and stored in our hearts like a firefly in a jar Taking walks hand in hand picking flowers, wishing upon stars going no matter how far to prove there's nothing I wouldn't do Jump off a cliff? Too easy I'd just be proving I'd die for a cause. Set sail, chase the setting sun whatever the task, I'd wear a hero's mask Knight in shining armor times two. To infinity and beyond, each step a first step bringing me back to you After several years of walking in circles I realized what love wasn't, which led me to discover what it is. Love is light. Just an inkling of it gives new life. For some it fades quickly and others it last for eternity Love is an entity residing between two beings It's an adhesive for some, for others it leaves a sticky residue No matter what it ends up being, it's a gift, lest you forget The smallest amount can save the world make a homeless person feel at home in the middle of Times Square Where the world goes wrong is when it forgets what's been bottled up inside Love is a firefly trapped way down on the inside sometimes we refuse to let it glow no one ever knows, love is a gift just as much as it is a myth. I've lived long enough, walked enough circles to see love and its many phases but its light never changes. Love is light.
