Lonesome's Just a Word

Lonesome's Just A Word I'd heard of lonesome whippoorwills An' trains that whine so low An' folks so lonesome they could cry - But then I watched you go Seems they don't know what lonesome is - The ones who wrote that song - It don't begin to tell you that Lonesome can last so long I've still got cows that need to eat And fence I need to tend There's young hosses I need to break - A heart that needs to mend I can do all the cowboy work - The heart I just don't know Thought I could skip this lonesome thing But then I watched you go I'd like to hear a train whine low Or whippoorwills that fly Both would be welcome sounds to me - I'm so lonesome I could cry

Thanks, Charlie..Hank does get half the credit. I was a freshman in high school when he released that one! It was another 40 years before I actually heard a whippoorwill....
