Light Years Away

I found you in the vast blanket of stars as I searched for unexpected warmth and listened to the coyotes haunting croon that could even upset La Llorona. They said to turn off all the lights so that our minds would be alert. But amid the misshapen zodiac, I still saw your face flying past constellations. Your eyes like a lifeline, shimmering in the green nebula. It wasn’t hard to find you there, on the spilled face of the moon that once pulled us together light years away ago.
