Life Goes On

First it was seizures And then I was blind Sight was returned And then I was fine. Then came the cancer But I was not afraid Just a little annoying Then life was repaid. A life threatening event The doctors said no way In my determined mind I said I’m here to stay. A cat has nine lives I think humans do too I’ve used three of mine Four more I am due.

You go Betty. Never give in to negativity and never give up. I've encountered the possibility of demise myself many times. Your poem reads well and sends a good positive message. I look forward to reading more of your work.

Thank you so much Anna. You will be glad to know that since I wrote this poem I have had in Jan 2018 a heart attack, and in Nov 2018 a small stroke! Still using up more lives! P.S. I must have somehow known that I was going to use up two more when I counted. Lol! Hope you are strong and happy.

When I look back on my life Betty, I must admit I agree with your conclusion, that we humans have nine lives (sometimes more)! I know there's been numerous life ending situations I've been confronted with, but have walked away from - not always unscathed, but till able to enjoy life! Take 'em as they come I say, and look in the mirror. Someone looks back at you? You survived yet again!

Thank you Darlene! I am pleased you liked my poem. It is true of my life. I have cheated death 3 times when all seemed to be lost, but God had different plans, and for that I am grateful! I have had a kidney transplant for 23 years, on my second pacemaker, and am healthier than I have ever been. I hope to write many more poems before He calls me home. Thanks again dear friend.
