Life as a maypole, is an interesting theme
where schemes we might plan can get tangled with dreams
The things I had dreamed of, to better my life,
would often get tangled, with wrong versus right
Some streams of the ribbons, were shadowed with doubt
The world was an ocean, where waves swept me out
Like a sea washing up, at the base of a cliff
I could feel all the breezes, and the winds of "what if"...
Some places I longed for, were mere glimpses of light
Some I still hope for, and pray for at night
Some I could reach, and some I would fight
Then, struggle to swim, against tides of requite
Some ribbons cascade with the hopes I beget
Some hanging limp with the mist of regret
Yet...my life has been woven with green grass and flowers
Where the sun kept me warm, to spend happy hours
Life as a maypole, is an interesting theme
My life as a maypole, is an unending game
