Life After War
This is not what I wished for,
To keep on going when the good are gone.
To have a life,
When the wrong have won.
How can I see the light in day,
When darkness is my home?
Can anyone hope when lives are lost each day,
Or is there only quick death to beg for?
Why have we been forsaken,
Only to be saved by our executioners?
How is this heaven,
When it feels like hell?
Is this icy cold the warmth we wish for,
Or the home we've always known?
All I know is that the day is over,
And no tomorrow is certain.
