Lament Of The Heart

To only make it so...

Whispered words
             of change
Tired hearts longing
Sadness intervenes
madness takes its toll

on no tomorrow
    on no future
These hungry eyes
burned out ashes
on a dream of passions
incompletes my soul

To only make it so...

Shades are drawn
and dark ebony
and shrouds of onyx
on the waste of love
peirce the distance

A sirens song
        words drifting....
Melody from
the ages of time
lost inside a deep well
of echoes....
my steps
    now I stand
Solitudes chains

To only make it so...

Hear this song
Oh...hands of fate
your grip... too much
too little...too late?

The depth of this poem is to the heart's core. Not attaining a dream is the lamentations of my heart. "A Sirens Song" great line and great use of imagery. GBY...Raul

Thankyou so much for the kind words on my poem...Ive never let anyone read my poems before and the feedback means alot...especially for someone of your talent!! Ive read through alot of your poems and I love them...this most recent may be one of my favorites though! A heart of such depth should be held only by someone who realizes what they have....not eay to find, but inevitable for someone with such a beautiful mind.

Christie, I have never read a sad poem like this before. It was so beautifully expressed the sadness is so evident it seems to penetrate you while you read. This was an amazing work of art my friend. Blessings to you, ~Michaela~

I don't think I have ever read a poem of lamentation that expressed so beautifully or clearly the sad song of hope and yearning as this, my friend. Your amazing talent never ceases to touch and inspire me. There is so much eloquence in your words that it is impossible to single out any one particular phrase. I love it. Love Jack

THere is never anything as sad as when the heart laments, when it yearns for more, but life and other influences intervene, leaving one in that solitude. You've captured that clearly and emotionally in this piece. My very best to you today my dear friend and may your New Year bring you and your family everything that is dreamed of. Michael
