Lament
I walk the shore
in the wind and the rain.
Oh God I am in such pain
I am distraught you're out of reach.
That damned worm has taken you from me
despite my love, despite my care
the silent killer won, you slipped away.
Are you now in peace my dearest love?
We had such a short time together.
Hardly knew each other
We never thought
our time would be cut so short
They said 'close your eyes,
open your heart
and listen to the ancient rhythms.
there you will find peace.'
What solace is there
in superstition?
It is all in vain
She's in her cold cold grave.
Has she gone from me forever?
I will lie upon her grave
on Walpurgis night
and conjure up her spirit.
And then I can say
all the things I should have said
when we were together.
Then perhaps I will find peace.
