Just Like You
Just Like you
By Jim Campbell
I Lost my mind
Words are trying
Forked tongues
All denying
The ways of the world
Leaves a taste of bitter saccharine
Blank eyes
Of regret
Roll back in the heads
Crosses in the pupils
Of the dead
Sneaky snakes
Which invite
Stings of poison
As they bite
Hands reaching for help
Up in the air toward
The light
Soothsayers of false hopes
Take to the sky
In flight
Feet stuck in the mud
There is no escape
Darkness covers
Like a cape
Glance at the clock
Thoughts hesitate
Run to something
The hours getting late
Damned to a hell
From which together
We create
No peace
Just trauma
Clapping our hands
For the drama
The way you
All want things to be
Take away the hope
Crush the happy
Filled to the brim
With jealousy
And envy
For most
They’ll be no resting
Till all are suffering
Sucked in like a fool
Emotions manipulated
Until we are
just like you
