Oh pity love that in its cruelest clutch
Casts pain so deep it cannot bear to live,
Without the sweetest kiss that love can give,
Without your hand to sooth me with your touch.
My Lord, I feel that I might ask too much
Too plead this sin of mine - will you forgive?
To stay without her love my heart misgives
So death I beg to come till it is such.
Sweet Juliet, I still can see your face
While gazing there upon a distant star.
So with your spirit I will pray to be
With beauty and a love I'll n'er replace;
And cannot wait for heaven so afar -
But there ... I will find love eternally.

    As a love poem I would give this a first place, but this contest was focusing more on any Juliet and her story. Still, a marvelous poem and one I am proud to have judged. It has flowing and rhythmic lines, extreme depth of feeling, and much more.

    I forget to say "perfecto" in form - meter, rhyme, use of vocabulary........ As the kind of Siam would say "et cetera, et cetera, et cetera"

    Beautiful, this is an Italian sonnet? Hmmmmm....I should try my hand at it. A love like Romeo' have described well. I wonder if such love exists today! At least I know that beautiful poetry exists today. This is proof. Hugs
