Joyful Vanguard
There was a time
When lines were clear;
A certain rhyme
Was set to steer.
Those were the days
Of simply plain;
A worthwhile stray
On pleasure-pain.
There was a gaze
In sweetness sad;
A simple craze
In thoughts most glad.
Those were the ways
We stopped to look;
Set in sure say
In tinted book.
There was a tale
In crispy page;
Thoughts we availed
From stage to stage.
Those days of glee
Indulged in peace;
Naive and free
With joy and ease.
There was a time
Where mimics stooped;
A square where mimes
Dazzled and drooped.
Those times have come
And now are gone;
Those rhymes that sum
Loiter to taunt.
