It's Now the Darkest Hours of Night Time

It's now the Darkest Hours of Night Time
When it's just before the dawn
When the lightning bugs are sleeping
And the croaking frogs are gone
Me and my thoughts are thinking
Of what crosses through our mind
And we write about whatever
It is that we will find
Reflecting on the news is not
Something to write about
Terrorism, murder, mayhem
Not subjects we will tout
About the state of politics
We try hard to stay away
For when the sun comes shining
We'd like to have a happy day
We'll write about good memories
Of the future that we see
Of love of life and harmony
Within our family
Of brotherhood and friendship
Of good things that will be
To wish the best for others
I hope that you agree
Try each day to get along
Offer a helping hand
Listen to what others say
And try to understand
The birds outside are singing
As the day begins to dawn
These few thoughts I have left for you
Now I'm out of here and gone
