Author's Notes: This poem, "Into the Arms of Eternity," was written as a Japanese "Choka" (or long poem), rendered in alternating five- and seven-syllable lines, and in this instance, concluding with an extra seven-syllable line. A Choka is characteristically "unrhymed." I could have approached my theme using any number of verse and poetic styles, but in the end, I opted to go with the Choka format. (I originally wrote this poem on February 14, 2015 which was included in my new book released on April 9, 2015.)
My message in "Into the Arms of Eternity" touches on a circumstance where a person is in a deep sleep and actually dreams of his future ascension to Heaven into the arms of God, thus into the arms of Eternity. Putting myself in this hopeful situation one day, I go on to mention how very nice it would be to have my eternal earthly soul mate one day with me in Heaven as we once were on Earth. It will be interesting to see how this one day may happen, that is, the walk into the "Arms of Eternity." (Gary Bateman - May 5, 2015) (Choka)
