Innocence Interrupted

Sacred beginnings, but my end too soon I lie helpless in false serenity preparing for life, her womb is my tomb. I am like a flower, ready to bloom my small frame forms, unborn tranquility sacred beginnings, but my end too soon. Her voice, so familiar, screams in that room my little heart pounds in futility preparing for life, her womb is my tomb. Pain, a new sensation, sharp, coursing through my frail body, in death's reality sacred beginnings, but my end too soon. I cry out in silence, my parts are consumed stricken and murdered so conveniently preparing for life, her womb is my tomb. My innocent blood spilled unwillingly unprotected, unheard, why should this be? sacred beginnings, but my end too soon preparing for life, her womb is my tomb. Written on 7/22/2015

Wow. It takes a second to get it, but the real question is: Why should so many slip away by their mother's ideology?

Thank you, BW, for the rating, and I'm glad you were moved by this poem. It is a sad and heartbreaking reality that happens so often in this fallen world.

Congratulations LAURA: So horrific to think of the womb as a tomb...that which is divinely purposed to give life. The Villanelle was a great form to convey this message because of the repeating refrain it really hammers the truth home. Highest regards, SuZ

Yes, I thought that the Villanelle form of poetry was a good way to convey this heavy, sad message. It seems that serious subjects can be conveyed with more intensity with this form. Thank you for your encouraging words.

Thank you very much for your compliments, Nette. There are few things that get me more moved than standing up for the plight of the unborn...and with the latest Planned Parenthood debacle of selling fetal parts for a profit, that just "", so to speak. I hope that organization gets banned soon!
Date: 7/23/2015 12:41:00 AM
I heartily agree with Suzanne on this one, Laura, a piercing, if you'll excuse the choice of word, plea for those unable to defend themselves, often victims of a 'lifestyle choice'. A worthy write, contest or not, well done. Viv x

Thank you very much, Viv. I appreciate your encouraging input. I am so angry with Planned Parenthood right now, as they are trying to sell fetal body parts for a profit :( So sad.
