In the Wink of An Eye
Quietly she eased into my life
like a phantom of the night,
unexpectedly, with no warning.
That hello whispered so softly,
the piercing look thrown sweetly,
were all it took to get me hooked.
The thundering silence said it all,
two souls drowning in loneliness
in a cramped, smoke-filled hall.
Tenderly we danced to the music
or maybe it’s just really only me
playing at the palm of her hand.
Restless, both heavily breathing,
away from the din we escaped
into a little world just our own.
Eager to undress, slow to commit,
though I loved she only caressed
with no promises even made.
Desperately I loved her, pierced her!
that she won't forget the moment,
the night meant to last forever.
In the darkness I lay in slumber
dreaming she would be mine,
the warm body lying next to me.
Morning comes and it hits me
turning my world upside down,
in the wink of an eye she is gone.
