You couldn't have worded the lack of gratitude with more simplicity or grace.

What a shame...reports interpreted respect for his service equivalent to one vote...pitiful lack of gratitude. Sensationalism I guess. Nice write. Dane

Great poem, and bet he would have laughed at it. Was someone who really grew with age. From KKK to Obama supporter. Enjoy your poetry as always.

57 years of service and still just another vote? Thanks Carolyn for my 2nd place win with politicians. I am having computer troubles. couldn't get on at all yesterday. Today I am working in safe mode and the screen is big and distorted. Very distracting. Love, Joyce

Can that be, Carolyn??? Wow, we won't have anything comparative to that! Did you know that Eisenhower was of German origin and his name was originally Eisenhauer?...Fifty-seven years of service as Congressman sounds nearly incredible!! Well written, Carolyn and thanks for all your kind comments! I still have my Teddy Bears!!!!...Love, Gert

oh, boy, what a headline!! Hey, this is great, and the title so like a parody after that final line. I really like it! LUv, Andrea Ps I don't follow politics and I know nothing of this man, but I take it you admired him? It sounds like he was very diligent!

He had been there for awhile, Carolyn. Hard for myself to visualize being at one thing that long. Thanks for your comment. Agape, Moses

Will these politicians ever take a break? Even over the man's death folks are still fighting for a vote. My goodness; I guess that's why I was a soldier and not a politician. Great job! Joseph

Smile ~ Eisenhower--the face upon the dime! 57 years brings a lot of gope to a lot of people and, yes I would say by the dems he would be missed! Smile, I'm upon my way to the yellow brick road and I noticed "Your Splendors," and wished to say would a joy it was to see "You" the other day--"Thank You"--Smile, "You Shall 'Always' Be A Treasure to Me!!!" ~ Smile, I shall return to visit "You" later--"My Love to You Always," John!:) ~

Ninety two years old and the congressional senator bowed to the same fate we all will one day face. Democrat or Republican should pay the proper respects due to the man and his family.
