In Loving Memory of Lucilla Carillo

My lovely Lucy, you’re no longer here He called your name; you left without a fear Your heart was tired and more so your soul God let you rest for soon he’d make you whole There is sadness deep inside my heart To know that in our group you’ll have no part I’ll look for you by name, but I won’t find That face that was so loving, sweet and kind I don’t blame God, for He knows what is best You were His loved one, so he gave you rest A woman of great faith, you had no doubt You wrote of Him and all that life's about I’ll miss your poems, and your friendship, too One day we’re sure to meet in earth made new Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. 14 For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. 15 According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. 18 Therefore encourage one another with these words. I Thessalonians 4: 13 - 18

I wasn't aware that she passed away... she was always such a nice lady :/ Didn't she have some sort of sickness? She's in a better place though... well written tribute, Eileen. Your scripture sharing, at the end, has brought some encouragement...

Lovely tribute to Lucilla. She was a remarkable lady who constantly made us aware of those who suffer, while she belittled and covered up her own suffering. May she rejoice in eternal peace. // paul

How can we be nothing if our God loves us with such passion? Death is merely a doorway to eternity. We do not know what is on the other side but we do know Jesus will greet us. I too believe she will be eternal.

Yes, I meant.....dust to dust. He made us from the dirt, Richard. HE breathed into our nostrils the breath of life...and we became living souls. My belief is...when we die...the breath of life returns to the father....we return to dust, from which we came. When the Creator, Jesus, comes again...He will resurrection us....he will give us back the breath of life, and we will again become living souls. In my belief system, based on many Biblical verses...death is a sleep. In the blink of an eye, the one who is dead in Christ will be called to life. When we sleep at night, we are unaware of the passage of time, are we not? It's harder for us who are left behind. Yes, our value is in how much our Creator loves us. He was willing to die to redeem us...He is coming back for us...one day. We will see her again. :)

I had no idea! She was a lovely and strong woman. Lucilla had a hard life and clung tightly to her faith. I have no doubt that I will meet her in person one day in paradise. Thank you for writing this dedication for Lucilla.

PD blogged about it, Richard. She visited her about a month ago and then she let us know that she was in the hospital. Then...a few hours later, that she had passed away. :( I know....You are right, Richard. We have hope. We are like flowers quickly fading....here today and gone tomorrow....a wave tossed in the ocean...a candle in the wind. These words are from the song, Who am I by Casting Crown. We are nothing, yet He loves us. Lucilla, I believe, will live eternally....Thanks for the post.

Eileen, this is so nice, Lucilla was one of the few would email me and talk to me regularly, We chatted so much I have no idea even how we started, she was such a kind heart, and tonight I am in tears. Even with all her health issues she was always more concerned for others! God bless her!

This puts special highlights on the many comments she made on many posts here on the Soup. She was more than kind to this old wannabe poet. May we take a while to grieve, then, forever rejoice together in celebration of yet one more victory over death.....RIP sweet angel... the stars are just a little bit brighter tonight..... Love Ya.... Jake

I'm sorry, Sunshine. I only knew thanks to a blog that PD posted. PD met with her about a month ago and then again now she learned of her being in hospital and went to see her, but...she passed away. :( I know...It's hard to take. She was a wonderful woman. May God bring her family comfort. Hugs to you, my dear.

Lucilla was a woman who had great passion and wisdom in herself and also invested those priceless gifts to the outside world, raising awareness about the vulnerable, the strained, and scared amongst us, elevating our hearts to know greater faith and love. Rest In Peace Lucilla...Eileen, this poetic eulogy shows your finest beauty, that last line, " One day we're sure to meet in earth made new..." beautiful...Justin

Justin, your post is a lovely tribute to her. Yes, she wrote about many important social issues. It saddens me....I've been thinking of her today and about how quickly life passes. Thank you for visiting and for sharing your appreciation for our friend this way.

Thanks, JT. Yes, she was the guest on Drake's show once. That was priceless. I'm so sad she's gone, but....I must believe that God had a reason to let her rest. Maybe he didn't want her to go through more pain. This is life, JT....We have hope for a better life to come. Rest in that. Hugs.

Eileen. I really appreciate you writing a tribute for that dear sweet woman. I came to know her better this past year when she told me how she did not have long to live, and I just could never believe she would be gone this soon. She was a wonderful lady. Love your sonnet for her. What a dear you are.

I know you first posted asking for prayers for her some time back. I'm very saddened by this, Andrea. She was a very sweet woman. I just somehow thought she'd defeat death. :( Makes you appreciate life and your loved ones. I'm plagued with thoughts of death. After my mother died....the thoughts never leave. The anti-depressants help, but....losing someone like Lucy brings it all back. We do have hope. If I didn't have hope that one day I'd see my mother again...I don't know how I would be able to survive saying goodbye. A better day is coming...thanks to Jesus. Thanks for the visit and kind words, my dear. Hugs

Jan....It's sad. I was dreading this. I felt so inadequate to comfort her. I pull away from what we can't face. Those of us who are walking wounded brace ourselves from more pain. I lost my Mama 14 years ago....after a long battle with MS. :( I still miss her. I know you are going through a difficult time. Be of good courage, my dear. He knows what is best. There is a better day coming when Death will DIE! Hugs
